La Botica aka “The Pharmacy” is a very unique piece of land with fascinating and significant history. The site was used as a resource gathering site for medicinal plants by the Hispanic community and is believed to have been used by Native Americans as well.
The Board wanted to collect oral histories from members of the community as well as tribe leaders about their knowledge of the site passed down through many generations. The journey was difficult so we had very few equipment with us, but being in such a remote area allowed us to connect more intimately with nature.
“Culture to me is everything…the land, the water, the plants, the sky, and how those things fit together.”
